Who is Mike Phirman?

Mike Phirman is a musician and comedian from San Luis Obispo, California, USA.

What is their music like?

It’s hard to pin down Mike’s style—the real joy is the absurdity and comedy in his music—but expect funk, rock, folk, and some straight-up weird stuff that defies description.

Why we think you’ll love it

Joyfully absurd and sneakily smart, this music will have adults and kids laughing together—and humming along to “What Makes the Breakfast” in seconds—then replaying it to catch the rich details, Easter eggs, puns, and wordplay. Mike Phirman is that rare thing: brilliantly funny, musically sophisticated, and perfect for families.

Artist Bio

Mike Phirman is a comedy musician from San Luis Obispo, California. He studied philosophy at UCLA, then sold his car and hitchhiked across Europe before returning to work in film and TV visual effects (eagle-eyed CSI fans watching frame-by-frame may spot a spark that briefly spells “Hi Mom!”). As half of the duo Hard ’n Phirm, he toured comedy clubs and colleges, delighting and bewildering audiences with songs about π and logging many miles of cornfields.

In 2010 he released the comedy album “The Very Last Songs I Will Ever Record (Part 1),” featuring a guest appearance by “Weird Al” Yankovic. After he and his wife, Dannah, had two children, Phirman began writing the songs he was singing to—and at—his kids, aiming for family listening that parents actually enjoy. That project became the 2018 album “Songs to Sing at Children,” widely supported by SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live (channel 78).
